Located in the imposing Caucasus Mountains, on the border of Georgia and Russia, Kazbek (Mkidsvari) is one of the world’s most spectacular mountain destinations. It is renowned for its wild beauty, imposing alpine landscape and rich mythology.

According to Greek mythology, it is the mountain where Prometheus was chained. The name “Mkintsvari” means “Frozen Peak” in Georgian, due to the permanent presence of ice and snow.The famous Gergeti Trinity Church (14th century) dominates at an altitude of 2,170 m, being a symbol of the region.

Travel program :

Day 1: Arrival in Tbilisi

At midnight we fly direct to Tbilisi, where we arrive early in the morning, are welcomed by the local guide and transferred to the hotel. Time for rest and adjustment.
In the afternoon a tour of the old town with its picturesque alleys.
Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 2: Tbilisi – Stepastminda – DEKA Shelter

Morning departure towards Stepastminda, with stops in impressive gorges for photos.
4×4 ascent to the Gergeti Trinity Church at 2.200 m.

From here the hike starts towards the Saberce Pass and the mountain shelter Mountain Hut “DEKA” (3,020 m).
At the entrance of the national park we meet the porters and the support team that will accompany us in the next days. Duration: ~3 hours, Altitude difference: +840 m.

Day 3: DEKA – Base Camp (Beltemi Hut)

After breakfast, the ascent to Base Camp (3,650 m) begins.
Upon arrival rest and lunch. Followed by training in the use of technical equipment (crampons & ice axe / pole).

Duration: ~3 hours, Altitude difference: +630 m.

Day 4: Acclimatisation day

Acclimatization hike on the glacier up to 4,000 m and preparation for the summit ascent. Accommodation: Tents at Base Camp

Duration: ~1,5 hour, Altitude difference: +350 m.

Day 5: Ascent to the summit (5.047 m.)

Very early morning wake up and start of the ascent to the plateau of Mount Kazbek (4,500 m), where the crampons are worn and the group is tied with a rope.
Continue to the top at 5.047 m.

The view from the top is unique and the return to Base Camp is completed after 11-12 hours of effort.
Overnight at Base Camp or DEKA shelter, depending on the physical condition of the group.

Duration: 11-12 hours, Altitude difference: +1.400 m.

Day 6: Reserve Day / Return to Tbilisi

Reserve day in case of bad weather.
Return to Tbilisi and festive dinner with local flavours and awarding of certificates.

Day 7: Tour of Tbilisi

After completing our mountain expedition, we begin our return to Tbilisi, with stops at unique points along the way such as the Gergeti Sameba monastery, the mountain town of Stepantsminda and the imposing Ananuri fortress.

Arriving in the city, we have free time to discover the unique architecture of Tbilisi and, optionally, relax in the traditional thermal baths, offering the body the ideal decompression after the climb.

Day 8: Tbilisi Tour

After breakfast we will tour the historical center of the beautiful city, the statue of the mother, the picturesque alleys on the banks of the river and many other sights! Afternoon free!

Day 9: Return day

Early in the morning we are transferred to the airport for the flight back to the homeland.

The expedition to the Caucasus is complete, full of images, experiences and memories of a journey that will stay with us for a long time.

For a group of 4-6 persons: 2290 € per person
