Transfer from Kala Nera to Lechonia. It’s time to begin our adventure by walking to Agios Lavrentios village, famous for its picturesque square. We continue our walk inside the small gorge between Agios Lavrentios and Agios Vlasios villages, grabbing the opportunity to drink from the Agios Ioannis natural springs. After that, we traverse until Agios Georgios village with the terrific view of the Pagasetic Gulf. With our batteries fully recharged, we head for our lunch under the shadow of the Platanus trees. Transfer to Kala Nera by mini bus and overnight stay there.
On today’s hike we cross Mount Pelion from the West to the East and from the Pagasetic Gulf to the Aegean Sea. We start walking for about 5 minutes until we meet the traditional path, heading to the picturesque village of Milies. Once we arrive there, we can visit the famous train station, the old library and the church with the magnificent paintings, in the square of the village. We then head to Ksourichti village via the forest road (at the beginning of the path) under the shadow of the chestnut trees. Before we continue our hike to Tsangarada village and learn the stories about the oldest plane tree in Greece (more than 1200 years old), we have lunch in a traditional tavern, in one of the three squares of the village. Later, we will descend to the white-rocky beach of Damouchari, following one of the most beautiful old stone paths. Overnight stay in a traditional hotel in Damouchari.
It’s time to begin our day following the coastal path which leads us to the Fakistra beach, famous for its crystal-clear water, in order to have a picnic and enjoy swimming. During the walk we have a magnificent view of the Aegean Sea. Visit to the Old School. Late in the afternoon we walk along the same path to Damouchari. Overnight in a traditional hotel in Damouchari.
We start from Damouchari, in the opposite direction, towards Agios Ioannis village, following the path along the shore. Agios Ioannis’s famous beach, Papa Nero, is on our way. On our route we will pass Mouresi village and we will enjoy a coffee there. Next stop – Kissos village, where we have our lunch in a traditional tavern. Refreshed and full of experiences, we climb up to Chania, where our hard, but rewarding day comes to an end. Overnight in hotel at Chania.
Today we will follow the path that Centaurs used to take according to Greek mythology, who were half men half horses. This leads us to the village of Portaria and then we continue along the road to graphical Makrinitsa, where the local people call the Balcony of Pelion. Here we’ll see the old traditional stone houses and the best view of the Pagasetic Gulf lying in front of the city of Volos. Overnight in traditional hotel at Makrinitsa.
Last day of trekking pelion is a piece of cake. Following the path, according to Greek mythology, that the Centaurus used to take to the old city of Volos (known as Iolkos), we arrive at Volos center, where we end our trekking trip with lots of new scenery and experiences. Overnight in a hotel in Volos.
We travel by our own mini-bus or local buses which leaves us to walk and continues, with our baggage, to the next place where we will stay for the night.
