Hiking in Enipeas Gorge (Olympus)

Hiking in Enipeas Gorge

May 16, 2021

Our meeting will be in Litochoro square at the foot of the mountain, and from there we ascend to the Prionia location (Old Saint Dionysius monastery) at an altitude of 1100 m.

It’s time to leave our bus and begin our short visit to the monastery. Afterwards, we enter this massive gorge and descend all the way to Litochoro square. With the help of wooden bridges, we cross the continuously flowing water several times, even in summer. While generally downhill, some sections are steep enough to remind us that nothing comes easy in the mountains. Our picnic, somewhere in the middle of the route, will give us the strength to reach our destination. We’ll then rest in the village square before returning to Volos.
