Escape and Relax with Yoga and Hiking on the Highest Mountain in Greece
Day 1 Saturday
We depart on Saturday morning from Volos at 07:00, heading to Litochoro and the Gortsia area at an altitude of 1050m. We load our backpacks and start our hike, surrounded by a beech forest. Along the way, we will encounter many fir trees and pines, which lead us to the Petrostrouga refuge at 2050m. From there, the landscape gradually becomes alpine. Our eyes can’t get enough of the surrounding peaks. We reach the plateau of the muses at 2550m. Time for lunch and rest at the Yosos Apostolidis refuge at 2697m. Then comes the moment we’ve all been waiting for, the relaxation and yoga session. Evening hike to the Prophet Elias peak, where the view of Katerini enchants us.
Overnight stay in a refuge.
5 hours of hiking
Day 2 Sunday
Before the sun even makes its appearance, we are already enjoying yoga and meditation in the absolute silence and tranquility offered by the plateau of the muses. Next is breakfast with a view of the Olympus Crown, to gather strength for the rest of the day. Crossing the Zonaria, you can understand the imposing Crown and the Gully leading to the highest peak in Greece, Mytikas, at an altitude of 2918m. Today is a downhill day, so we descend with a short stop at the Agapitos refuge at 2100m for a coffee, and then we end up at the Prionia location at 1100m, which is the end of our hike.
